God wants me to eat ________.
Dec 22nd
In a glamorous display of youthful responsibility, we took my car out yesterday in 2-3 feet of snow. Having taken an hour to shovel the entire driveway, it only seemed appropriate that we blaze our way up the street by reversing out into the cul-de-sac at 30 mph. Eventually we broke free onto some marginally packed sidestreets.
We found our way to a church parking lot which had been 1/4 plowed, but was mostly a wreck of tire tracks and undercarriage scrapings, and so we got the Outback stuck there over and over, whirling around, in and through the snowbanks. With 4 of us it was pretty easy to dig and push out. I like to think that it was good practice for the “real thing.”
Eventually Brandon took us down a street and got us stuck again, per the plan. But we saw a man about 200 feet away who was actually stuck. And he didn’t have 4 sweet dudes to help him, but instead had two wimpy looking daughters who wouldn’t push. So of course we used our (two) shovels and (one) garden hoe to dig out his tires, and then pushed like crazy while he threw it into reverse. He made it.
Having extricated him, we went back to the Subaru and while we were digging, the man came over and offered his help with our car. Ryan told him we weren’t actually stuck; we were just playing around.
“Zero fucking responsibility! Ha!” he laughed. “Well, thanks for your help back there. Hey, if we’re open today, lunch is on me.” Out of his pocket he produced a deck of cards, and pulled out 4, handing them to Paul. Good for one free Chipotle burrito each. Turns out he was VP of Corporate Marketing. Sweet.
God wants me to eat Chipotle. This much is clear.

This week ought to be a hell of an adventure. In fact, the next weeks will be crazy. First of all, after this Friday, I’ll have 11 consecutive days off. ELEVEN.
Mikey’s already here.
Julian arrives today.
Barry, Gadi and Paul arrive on Wednesday morning.
Xavier arrives Friday.
Christian arrives Saturday.
Mike arrives…sometime. I’m not sure when.
23rd and 25th will be ski days at A Basin or Keystone. 25-28th will be Aspen adventure time.
Meanwhile, things here will be lank hectic bEyond. Two Wash U dinners this week, Monday and Tuesday. A shit ton of stuff to write up for the GUSF 501 3 c. A meeting with a prof up at CU’s applied maths dept tomorrow too. I am trying to decide how to dress…
Running and working out have been going well. I spoke with my mother at length about how to eat properly without losing weight. I am worried about counteracting a lot of my progress with weights via the running thing. Hopefully it won’t be that big a deal, because I do eat a lot.
Life is good. Glad to be here today, as most other days, but especially today for some reason…

don’t even take a breath;
you’ll fall right in. you’ll fall right in…
from way up here, the buildings look like needles
pinched together so tightly that they could break my fall
and the ground looks so seemingly soft–when I look at you tonight…
so I’m pinning back my eyelids and I’m burning all my bridges
to build the momentum
to follow through, to follow through, to follow through this time:
to follow through this time.
don’t fail me. as I set myself ablaze.
don’t even take a breath; you’ll fall right in.
take only what you need from it

went to A Basin for the first skiing of my season, which was awesome. only skiied until noon though, at which point I went down to Boulder and met Adrienne for lunch. then met up with the other BCAP volunteers and set up for their annual fundraiser auction. fun times. long day.
skiing again tomorrow, probably at A Basin, but this time, with Ryan and Brandon. Can’t wait.
