Bleach 115 was awesome. I can’t wait for 116. Literally, I can’t wait. Maybe I will freeze myself until next week…

Running this week has been productive: around 15.5 miles so far this week. I hit the 100 mile mark for my running shoes too. Sweet! This weekend will be my first race. 10 miles, but still! I am way pumped. The last half mile of today’s run was especially sweet, when Toto – Africa came on.

I finished the South Africa part of the Adventures section of the website. I’m pumped about that. The other adventures are yet to be filled in. I mean, I have all the content ready. But it takes a while to trim all the pictures, create all the thumbnails and type up the journals. Anyway!

I registered for a trip to Israel through a nonprofit called Birthright. It’ll be the end of May through early June. It’s actually a free trip, which is sweet. I pay to get myself to NYC, and the rest of the 10 day tour is paid for, airfare and all. Thanks a ton to Gadi for organizing that and making sure I was on board. I seriously can’t wait!

whoop whoop. i'm on the block. whoop whoop. i'm in the club.

Well. I suck at camera. I think I need to learn how to actually take pictures. I have a nice camera, and I know how to use it, and what the different settings do. But I’m still such a nub with it most of the time, it’s painful.

And here’s a funny quote, taken completely out of context:
“That’s the first time I’ve called you Dan. Usually I just call you God or Jesus.”

Website stuff is coming along well. The journal from ZA should be done and presentable soon. I’ve continued to upload stuff in increments though, just so I feel like I’m making progress. It’s amazing how long picture re-sizing , saving and renaming take. However, I hope to be done by the end of the week.

Ted’s move went well, and he will theoretically be donating some sweet electronics and furniture to our house in early March. Coincidentally, that weekend will also be the weekend I spend in Boulder at the the A.Math dept. I am so pumped. I wish I could take all the time off from now until this fall… hehehe!!! :D

This guy that I work with said some funny things this morning. He keeps mixing up line in the sand and stake in the ground and stick in the mud. So he’ll say stuff like “We just need a stick in the sand, and then we can go from there,” or “Well guys, these data are really just a stake in the mud, and we can baseline things from there.”

Then I was thinking about how some of our people in Europe got confused by the euphemisms and imagined a foreign guy trying to understand why anyone would bury a delicious steak, especially in the mud. So then I’m sitting in this meeting, thinking about a confused Spaniard, with a thought bubble in his head with a shovel and T-bone, like “wtf? que?!”

Here’s a funny story from a friend of mine:

So there is this girl who is like my new best friend. And basically we became tight because we were randomly talking one time and kind of felt each other out and then both realized we had some weird stuff in common. So it was like I said something noncommittal, then she did, then it escalated and then we went shooting and now we are bff. Anyway, the funny part is that she thinks it is weird that we are into guns. She doesn’t want anybody to know we have this hobby.

So the first time we went to the range, it was a Saturday, and there was a party that night. So we went in the afternoon and I liked it but I was kind of distracted after thinking about the party and other stuff. So she thought I wasn’t that happy about it.

But then later, when I got into the taxi with her and her two roommates, she looked good and I had just showered and taken a couple pick-me-up shots.

So I was feeling good. That is the background. Here is the punchline:

So they are sandwiched in the back seat and I am in the front seat. And I am like, “Yeah I am sorry I didn’t seem more enthusiastic after what we did this afternoon. But now I feel like a warm after glow.

So I turn back to look and she is like bright red with murder eyes. And the thing is, she charged the gun rental. So I am halfway through the sentence “I owe you some money.”

But she also didn’t want to explain to her friends that she had been off shooting guns all afternoon. Plus it sounded like I paid her for sex, which is pretty much the bottom rung of mega awkward…

XD

The to-do list is out of hand, and I’m struggling to keep it contained from spilling over.

Stuff for work. lol.

Now is not the time to give up. Luckily for me, the people I exchange my time and conversations with keep me going. Ok. Now I feel better.

mmm that's all for the best; of course it is…

Today I ran 12 miles.

So we just skirt the hallway signs, a phantom and a fly.

I love this Shins song… Phantom Limb. I can’t stop listening to it. Sometimes I have these days at work where the entire day has a single song soundtrack, and I truly can’t get enough of one particular song. Today is one of those days.

Except, I messed up putting music on the iPod last night so when I went to run, all I had on it was Regina Spektor. Don’t get me wrong, her music is good and interesting to listen to. But it’s not exactly pump up music.

I ran a fast 5 with Bruce today, which was pretty sweet. When we first went out together in mid-December, prior to the deluge of snowstorms, he worked me, at just a moderate pace. This time, it was the opposite.

Paul Moinester is trying to set me up for marriage with his sister, which is hilarious. Not only have I never met her, but I know nothing about her. It’s funny though. Sometimes I wonder how I would feel about calling my friends family. I also think it’s funny that he is out to set her up. Most brothers I know are protective of their sisters. Not Paul, I guess. He probably just doesn’t know me well enough…

He’s applying for a position with Congressman Udall, CO District 2. If he gets it, he’d work at around 88th and Sheridan, putting his commute from my house at around 15-20 minutes. It would be really sweet to have him out for the summer. I’m not sure how it would work logistically. Maybe I’ll put him in the space under the stairs. There’s a good word for that spot under the stairs. I can’t think of it right now, but I know it exists.

Today, the GUSF meets with Lucy Lopata to solicit funding for the upcoming years. Potentially this could go very well, and yield a mind-boggling amount of money. I am nervous. I have never felt this close to funding before, and to see success now would make me celebrate hard this weekend. Bring out the Tokaj.

Xavier’s GoogleChat away message is “tomorrow i will run faster” and that gets me really really pumped up.

Oh. It’s called a spandrel. Merriam Webster: Spandrel

keep yo heeead up, bubba. don' let nobody git ya deeown.

ran 10 today in 9 minute miles. had a talk with bruce allowing me to relax my schedule either by coming in early or leaving late so that I can run over lunch. sweet! I’m super stoked!

went skiing with nsx/jeff over the weekend, which was cool. he’s a pretty rad guy, despite the nerdy connection we share. not a bad snowboarder either! he and 14 buddies each put 1k down on a house in Dillon w/ 3 bedrooms, which is pretty pimp. mcateer, konkel…maybe we should look into something like that, but cheaper?

stuff with the St. Louis guys is going really well. I miss them all. Paul mentioned that he might work out in Denver over the summer, which would be absolutely awesome. I think he and McAteer might get married.
